The under 8’s Busselton City FC Sharks had an early start on Saturday as they headed down to Margaret River for a 9am game.
An undermanned Margie’s side as the opponent had a quick rally call for players to ensure the fixture went ahead. Each team starting with 6 rather than 7 allowed a little extra space for both sides.
A very evenly contested first half ensued with a couple of passages of play from both sides forcing good saves from each goalkeeper. Defences were tight with only a few goal scoring opportunities. A few tactical changes from coach Ben Hughes at half time produced a higher tempo second half.
With sharks taking the game to Margie’s wave after wave of shark attacks resulted in the net rippling on many occasions. This young side mentored by Ben for the last 3 years are really gelling and producing a great style of football.
